Position title: Channel Account Manager 2
Purpose of the Position:
Responsible for the sales of high value products, services and solutions in assigned territory to third parties, i.e, system integrators, value added resellers, distributors, corporate resellers and retail partners for resale to end users or to embed (OEM) in their products for resale. Accountable for closing sales in order to achieve or exceed individual quotas and company business objectives. Develops new accounts and/or expands existing accounts within established territory. Calls on prospective customers, provides technical and administrative product information and/or demonstrations, and quotes appropriate customer prices. Manages customer relationship and influences customers' requirements specifications. Refers leads and opportunities for products and solutions outside of territory to appropriate sales or consulting personnel. May co-sell with partner into end-user accounts. Develops and maintains selling, technical and product skills as required. Represents the company to the customer and the customer to the company in sales related matters; understanding of customer's business and product requirements is necessary. Fully knowledgeable about company products.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise:
Demonstrates depth/breadth of knowledge/skills in own products/markets; uses new and innovative selling techniques. Ensures that accounts are fully aware of Sybase product line. Applies knowledge/skills through handling complex problems and/or coordinating work that may extend beyond own area of expertise; shares expertise with colleagues and other departments. Possesses in-depth knowledge of two-tier and single-tier volume channels distribution.
Client/Business Focus:
Anticipates client needs, investigates underlying causes and identifies short and longer term solutions; creates and leads business development plans over the short to medium term. Acts as a strategic resource in support of Sybase products and services. Interprets internal/external business issues; makes changes to own and others' work to meet these. Manages cost for own sales projects; aware of profitability needs.
Creating & Delivering Solutions:
Anticipates patterns and links; looks beyond the immediate problem to the wider implications; takes a new perspective on existing solutions to complex problems. Develops and implements an effective strategic selling strategy within sales territory involving Inside Sales, Direct Sales, System Consultants and Marketing. Manages own time and that of others; develops annual plan for own area in line with strategy developed elsewhere; plans specific sales activities, including forecasting/organizing all resource requirements.
Working Relationships:
Negotiates and closes all Purchase Agreements and applicable related agreements. Serves as the focal point for account management.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education: Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline or equivalent experience.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years experience selling related software/hardware products.

Position title: System Consultant
Purpose of the Position:
Provides technical support and sales expertise to pre (and sometimes post sales) situations within a designated field sales business unit. Formulates technical strategies and tactics for sales in support of Sybase products and services and functions as an integral part of the sales team. Prepares detailed product specifications and customer needs assessments and develops potential solutions. Conducts sales presentations, product demonstrations, and installation and maintenance of company products to ensure that the system is functioning according to specifications. Also responsible for formulating technical strategies and tactics for sales in support of Sybase products and services and functioning as an integral part of the sales team.
Major Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise:
Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Deepens knowledge/skills in one area or broadens ability over a variety of skills. Applies knowledge/skills to a variety of standard day to day activities; identifies unusual technical problems. May assist in installation, configuration and use of Sybase products; resolution of customer technical issues. Participate in the development of the technical strategy.
Client/Business Focus:
Responds to standard client requests. Understand relationships between work processes and the business but horizons are limited to own team. Takes action to monitor and control costs related to own work.
Creating & Delivering Solutions:
Identifies the problem and all relevant issues in straightforward situations; generates possible solutions, assesses each using standard procedures. Prioritize work to deliver to agreed deadlines.
Working Relationships:
Builds productive relationships internally and externally.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education: Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline or equivalent experience.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years pre-sales technical support experience (or 1-3 years experience with a Master's degree).
